I’ve been saving for awhile now and I think it’s about time to finally get myself a somewhat decent electric guitar. I’m really looking for something that would be good for alternative rock, and funk. However I enjoy playing many other genres as well, so I would like it to be a pretty versatile guitar. My budget is anywhere from $500 to $700. Advice?

I’ve noticed that there seems to be two different violin sounds. One sounds sort of softer and higher pitched, and has a very “touching” type quality to it. The other seems a little harsher on the ears, lower pitched, and usually is played a little more energetically. Are they from the same instrument, or are they from different types of violins?

I was also wondering how hard it is to learn to play the violin by yourself (maybe with some online tutorials), and is there is any way to get a decent one on an extremely limited budget?
