Need painting/decorating advice. I am in the process of painting the family room. Country theme. What colors?
shady asked:
I am trying to change things on a budget. Couches are dark beige. Espresso colored coffee table, end tables, entertainment center. Maroon carpet is new and I don’t want to change that only because of the expense otherwise it would go. We have 2 lamps that we Absolutely want to incorporate into the room but right now they stick out like a sore thumb. They are slate blue. Any ideas on decorating would be great. Wall color is my main concern right now they are pure white.

Where can i buy a sturdy, attractive, affordable sleeper-sofa?
Pandora asked:
In the market for a new sleeper-sofa and i recently found out that there is a lot i need to consider. Many of the bargain stores offer ugly uncomfortable pieces and some of the better stores are way beyond my budget. Any advice on where i can find a good one for under $1,000?

Need Decorating Advice – Brown Leather Chair and Black Leather Sofa?
damselchum asked:
Any advice on how to make a black leather sofa and a dark brown leather chair gel together a little more smoothly? Unfortunately their cut is very different as well, the couch is big and squishy where as the chair is very sleek. The room just looks so BLAH – very college dorm room. Not the sophisticated/modern look I’m going for. Budget is kinda tight as well so It doesn’t look like getting rid of either piece is going to be an option. I’m very close to taking a can of spray paint to one of them! Ahh the joys of hand-me down furniture.

Any advice on renovating a house?
Bethy asked:
My husband and I are thinking about buying a house but we are on a tight budget. I would like to buy a cheap home and renovate it along the way while we live in it. We will need to put a new roof on it right away, and it needs a kitchen….counters, cupboards, appliances, all of it. Does anyone have any advice on what renovations should be done first, someone with personal experience would be preferred.

I need some interior designing advice?
Celestial Teapot asked:
I’m redecorating my bedroom and I’m stumped.
I’m redecorating my bedroom and I’m stumped.
I like industrial, gothic, and any kind of quirky avant-garde kind of theme. But at the same time I like floral patterns and pastels and lace and frilly stuff.
Can you give me some design tips for mixing these two styles?
Maybe you can link me to some cute furniture, room accessories, wall paper, paints, etc?
Also keep in mind I have a budget so nothing too expensive.

I’m redecorating my room and I need advice on painting the walls?
Angel P. asked:
To sum it all up, my room’s general appearance is ugly. My walls are torn in some places and that is the first problem I am going to fix. My dad put wallpaper up on my two walls to cover the tears but I want to pull them down and paint over them in white instead so I can put decorations on it. I am not hiring a professional to paint seeming as I’m on a budget.

Will the paint cover the tears?
What is the proper way to paint a wall?

Advice on hardwood flooring please?
mattysmom asked:
I am on a limited budget and while I want my floors to look beautiful, I’d also like to be thrifty. I know nothing about hardwood flooring except that I want real wood. Can I cut costs with substituting wood varieties, grade etc. (I really don’t know about wood “grades”) I am looking to put down flooring in my bedroom (12X16), my foyer, dining roon (12X10) my kitchen (12X14). I know what stain color I want, though- a Jacobean stain I saw. I love darker colors. I don’t want a lot of “knots” in the wood, either. Can anyone give me any advice on how to get nice looking floors that don’t look cheap, but don’t break me? Thanks a lot!
