Preparing a Budget

budgeting
Preparing a budget.

The people of India must be congratulated that they are in a position to prepare their family budget with the income which is coming to their houses and they are living on and are not starving and dying. Very few people die of starvation. The people who die are few in number and most of the people live on with all the conditions created by the state, by the society, by the rich and powerful people. If the people of the world so desire, they can give them Nobel Prize because they are running their administration and are still alive.

When the people of India were under Rajas, Maharajas, Monarchs and then under the Imperialists, they were having no say in the administration. But they initiated their war of independence and they got independence and it is on record that they established democracy which is government of the people. It clearly means that now the people of India are the masters of the country and all those who are appointed or elected and raised to the seats of power are not rulers, but they have been designated just ‘ public servants ‘. But all these entries are just paper transactions because it is on record that these elected and appointed people who have been declared as ‘ public servants ‘ have been turning rich and all those who have been declared as masters of this country have been reduced to poverty.

We cannot designate this administration as ‘ Ram Rajaya’. It is something new and it is on record that this administration could not be equated even with ‘Ravana Rajaya ‘ because all those problems which were with the people of India prior to independence are still alive with the people. They are still illiterate, they are still unemployed, they are still without suitable houses, they are living in mud houses, they are found living in huts and sometime they are found lying under the open skies. They are not having suitable diet, they are not in a position to get proper treatment when they are ill. they are not in a position to send their wards to schools, to colleges, to training institutions, nor they are in a position to get for them proper work from where they could bring proper income with which they could run their family administration. They are still divided on the basis of religions, on the basis of castes, on the basis of economic groups and that is the reason, most of the time of the people is spent in fighting. There had been promises and assurances and if we go deep, we shall find that all those promises and assurances had been false and those were declared just to catch more and more votes and we had been giving votes to the people and giving them power to exploit us because they were not actually experts nor they were having a will and a desire in their mind to serve the people and bring them out of these problems.

We had been having experts on the government side and they had been preparing budgets for the state. some time they had been coming with annual budgets, some time they had been coming with interim budgets, some time they had been giving us Five Year Plans and the figures which they shall be spending on items enumerated in the budgets. The people who had been preparing budgets had been appreciated and also commented upon and at times we have been told that the budgets which had been prepared could not meet the items and some items had to be left out and at times they had been imposing taxes or had been collecting money from the people for completing those projects. But when we come to the common people, we know that they have got no such alternatives with them. They are to run the family administration with the income they have got and in all circumstances, they are to live. They do not know when the prices shall rise and how they shall meet those rising prices.

The state itself has admitted that most of the people are living below poverty line and it clearly means the state knows the list of those who are living below poverty line. Therefore, the state must have come with a budget of a common family presently which is having income between Rs.2500.00 and Rs.3000.00PM. The Finance Minister should have prepared this budget for the family and that budget should have been circulated so that the common people could get guidance from the Finance Minister. he state has assured the people that the state shall be taking care of the people and when the people are facing rising prices and when the demands of the people are not limited to the basic three items food, house and clothes, the state must guide the people so that common people could also live a life in free and democratic India. The Prime Minister of India who himself is a economic expert he too can help the Finance Minister in this field and they must place before the people a budget of a common family. They should also place before the common people revised budget when prices rise without prior notice to the common people. The people are not having any concern with the state budget. They are concerned with the family budget and it is the duty of the state to prepare their family budget.

How To Budget Money

budgeting
Budgeting money is something of a neglected necessity in the modern world, with so many people lured into spending regardless of their financial situation. It has become almost the norm to spend each month more than is earned, often without even knowing it. This has led to severe debt problems for millions of people in the US and UK in particular, and an encouragement and acceptance of ignorance in personal money management.

Despite all the bad debt write offs, the banks and other lenders are happy with the situation. They build the risk factor of bad debts into their interest rates to ensure overall profitability, so borrowers are paying for the collective lack of ability to budget properly. Yet, budgeting is easy, so it is baffling in some ways that many people are unsure how to budget money.

Being able to budget your own money is a bit more than listing your incomings and outgoings each month, quarter, year, or whatever period you need to budget for. Yes, you must go through the listing process, and then keep an eye on both sides of the equation constantly. But there are other factors in home budgeting, and that is what this article is about.

The Greatest Incentive

To encourage yourself to budget money is important, as without the motivation, you will probably not budget that well. What incentive can there be to having a home budget and sticking to it? The answer is actually quite simple. Nobody becomes rich by spending more, or even the same, each month than they receive. Wealth grows from surplus; that is, the surplus left over at the end of the month after you have completed your spending.

Recognizing this can provide you with a kick start in wanting to learn how to budget money, and then put that learning into practice. Once you start to see those surpluses build, your confidence in wealth building, and incentive in budgeting, will grow.

Keeping Detached

It is important when budgeting to maintain a detached view of the figures. Think of yourself as a finance professional helping a consumer set and manage a home budget, and set yourself aside from any emotions that may seep out during a review of your budget. Some parts of the budget can arouse emotions, and thus distort sensible decisions. Things like cutting out a family holiday or weekend trips, that new bike for your son or designer outfit for your daughter, can be emotional sparks. It is important not to allow those sparks to set light to your well drafted budget.

Be Open

If you have a family, the household budget affects those closest to you. The budget is a family affair, and it does help to talk openly about it with your spouse and children who are old enough to understand. Children may not like sacrifices, but they will understand eventually. It can be an important part of their education if you involve them. If you can give them some incentive, too, such as building their own savings scheme into the budget, then they may even start to enjoy it and truly see the benefits.

Ignore Peer Pressures

Your personal budget is simply that, personal. It is therefore something you should see in the context of your own circumstances, not somebody else’s.

To budget your money effectively you really need to be able to ignore peer pressures that may force you into unnecessary or unwise spending. Just because your neighbour or best friend is having two foreign holidays this year does not mean you need to also. Just because your brother or other relative has a new home cinema system does not mean it is essential for you too.

If you can let peer pressure run off you, like water off a duck’s back, then you have made a big breakthrough in learning how to budget money.

Those are just a few of the other factors that come into play in learning how to budget at home, but they are all worth considering as you focus on your incomings and outgoings while home budgeting.

A Specialty Of The Budget Airlines

budgeting
A special administrative region of China, Hong Kong has been long regarded as the gateway to the nation. Hong Kong is a sprawling cityscape providing a feast of attractions to visitors touring the city in the form of a variety of museums, theme parks, and natural attractions, among many others.

However, its magnificent attractions are the not only thing that draw people from across the world here. The city also provides excellent options for business and educational activities. Many travelers including Americans and Europeans can savor the first taste of Asia by landing at the international airport in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong.

Traveling to Hong Kong has never been so easier, with a plethora of budget airlines in the scenario. Earlier, air travel was just confined to upper class people including top class executives as well as business magnets. But, with the birth of the budget airlines, anyone could dream of a comfortable air journey. In other words, budget airlines have now become a convenient alternative over shaky buses, inept trains, and traffic-jammed highways.

Budget airlines, otherwise known as no frills airlines, low cost carriers, or low cost airlines, are airlines or flight carriers providing flight services for exceptionally low rates. Sometimes you can travel with a budget airline for more than 50% discount.

The concept of no-frills airlines originally originated during the beginning of 1990s in the US, which later spread to Europe and gradually to Asian destinations. Now the budget airlines are popular throughout the world, and many of the leading as well as reputable airlines in the industry render low cost airline services and that too without sacrificing the quality of the services.

In budget airlines, the pricing of air fares vary depending upon the duration of time between booking and departure. Mostly, the earlier you make bookings for airfare, much cheaper would be the airfare. Likewise, in order to fill the unsold seat in the plane, some airlines would slash the price prior to a few days before its departure.

A specialty of most of the budget airlines is that they cater to almost all types of travelers. For instance, some airlines operate budget flights according to the convenience of the business travelers. There are certain airlines providing incredible deals on air fares for students as well as leisurely travelers. In most cases, budget airline fares are flexible, al though, in some instances, these airlines may charge a nominal fee to make changes in flight reservations.

A number of airlines are in the industry to render you the best in budget travel. With these excellent airlines providing bespoke services. A budget airline provides almost the same superb services that a standard airline offers, such as excellent dining options, superb entertainment facilities, and comfortable as well as soft cabins. Additionally, some of the budget airlines render special services for passengers such as elderly travelers, children traveling alone or not accompanied by their parents, pregnant as well as passengers flying with infants, and passengers who have visual, speech, or hearing imparity.

With the introduction of the internet, it has become quite easy to find a budget airline. Many of the airlines have their own websites with facilities for online ticket booking. This in turn is very convenient. It is not only beneficial for hassle-free bookings but also enable you to know whether they provide any kind of discount or deals for traveling within a stipulated period or during a particular season such as Christmas or New Year.

All you have to do is to just log into their website and inform them regarding the destination you are going to travel and date of departure. All of the rest they will take care. In addition, airfare bookings online is economical, as it enables you to save pennies on issuing tickets. The airlines, in most cases, sent confirmation through a simple document containing flight details as well as booking reference. When you make payments and bookings online, it allows you to easily take a print out of this document as soon as the booking process is completed. In short, with just a click of a mouse you can make bookings for a comfortable air journey.

Get control of Your Personal Finance with a Budget

budgeting
It is fairly common knowledge that money matters can be simplified and controlled with a budget. One of the keys to personal finance management is creating and using a household budget. It is not a really hard task, but one that many people avoid. The reason is that it can often be hard to avoid overspending and having a budget really puts spending problems out there.

A budget is basically a list of expenses and income. It should include all expenses, even the seemingly little expenses like a morning coffee purchase. The budget can be made out weekly or monthly, whatever way is best for the household. For someone who gets paid once a week, a weekly budget may be best. For someone who gets paid once a month, a monthly budget would work nicely. Although, it is really a matter of personal choice as to how the budget is made out.

The income section of a budget is usually fairly simple. Most people can easily track their income. Some people choose to list their income after taxes, while others list the income before taxes and include taxes as a expense. That is strictly a matter of choice.

The expenses section is where most people have trouble. It can be hard to see our spending habits in black and white. It is really important, though, to be honest and list everything. You may find it is helpful to keep a spending log for a week. Your spending log is where you will write down every purchase you make. This can be a good way of tracking all the little expenses you incur throughout a week.

Your expenses section of your budget should also include utilities and housing expenses. If you have a car payment, include here as well. You need to include money spent on gasoline, bathroom items, food and any other thing you spend money on. You do not have to include large, one time purchases, though, as they are not a routine part of your expenses.

Once you have your income and expenses listed you need to add each up. The total of your expenses should not exceed the total of your income. If it does then you need to cut back on your expenses. You may have to stop some spending or try to find creative ways of reducing your spending.

The whole idea of a budget is to ensure that you are not spending more then you are earning. Your budget is a blueprint for how you should be spending your money. Once you have your budget made out and it is balanced you need to stick to it. Only spend as much as you have allotted in your expenses and you should find your personal finance situation becomes much easier to deal with.

Are kids being taught about debt / budgeting in school nowadays?

budgeting
Dick J asked:

When I was a kid, the only “financial” stuff I got was that in 7th grade, we learned about writing checks and business terms such as “overhead”. However, with the subprime loan crisis, it seems that schools should have taught more about budgeting and debt and less about the “war on drugs”. I know that it’s a parent’s responsibility to talk about this stuff, but if the govt can take time preach about drugs, shouldn’t also talk about budgeting?
