I used to use MS Money but I see they have stopped selling it.

Can you recommend a good personal financial budgeting software? I want to maintain detailed bank statements, pensions, mortgage info, and stock portfolios all in one place.

I want the functionility of MS Money.

Thanks

I am looking for a personal finance program for budgeting and tracking investments but everything I look into seems to track everything monthly. I get paid bi-monthly and want to budget bi-monthly. Anyone have any recommendations?

I want to make a personal budget?

Wardog’s wifey asked:

I am looking through old bank statements etc i want to start budgeting our money. i’m finding it difficult to determine how much money to say we make as it changes every pay period… my husband and i have both only been at our jobs for about 4 months so i’m having a hard time finding a common number based on averages. Also for expenses like tenants insurance that we only pay once a year do i include this or not and if so how.. i’m also wondering, because i found a template online, but it wants me to list things like the cash value of my life insurance… how do i find this number out. and why do i need it…. ahhh i need some money help. we are young (20 and 22) but we would like to start saving for a house. my parents were horrible examples of how to budget and spend money wisely… i do not want to follow in their footsteps! thank you in advance for your help!

Between abortion and budget wrangling it seems neither side in Washington gets it, and God knows many of us regular folk don’t. Why is that?

Do you think a formerly homeless pregnant person is more or less capable of caring for a baby than others?

I **** my haters asked:

I asked what you all thought would be scarier, being homeless or young & pregnant. 99% of you said homeless. Now suppose a young girl was in that “scary” homeless predicament, but dug herself out of it in a relatively short period of time, by working hard, being innovative, budgeting, reading up on budgeting & personal finances, and really turned her life around in about a year? And suppose this same self-sufficient hard worker then got pregnant(unmarried)? Do you think she would be most likely very capable of taking care of a baby, since she’d obviously faced & conquered bigger obstacles before? Or, do you think her homeless experiences would deem her to be “worse” than most other moms-to-be, since perhaps her homeless experiences might have psychologically scarred her a little? Or perhaps if she became homeless before, maybe she’s more prone to become homeless again?
Either way, how do you think one’s past homeless experience(s) affects how capable of a parent/provider she might be?
Just to clarify: The “pregnant girl” that I wrote about in this (completely hypothetical) situation would no longer be homeless. She used to be homeless but worked hard to pull herself upward and now has her own apartment.

By the way: I’m not pregnant, nor is anyone that I know that used to be homeless. This is a hypothetical “thinking” type of question. But the feedback is very important to me.
Note: Sometimes even precautions/contraception doesn’t work. In my scenario, the condom broke and then the emergency contraceptive pill didn’t work either. True story too by the way.

Would it be wiser to move to another country before or after college?

I’m only in my sophomore year of high school, but already I’m thinking far ahead. I really, really, REALLY want to live in England, and honestly I want to live there as soon as possible. But I’m TRYING to be logical about this, and have come to one question I’m not sure about: is a better idea to move to another country FOR college, or AFTER college? I know my personal budget will be tight either way, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Personal Budget - Giving yourself an allowance?

by admin ~ February 25th, 2010

Absolut2892 asked:

I’ve found recently that I needed some way to control my entertainment and dining out spending. I am starting to experiment with personal allowances. I like the concept of setting a side x amount of dollars to spend each week on entertainment and dining out. If I exhaust that amount I force myself to wait until next week for more “allowance money”. If I stay in one weekend and don’t spend it I can start to accrue allowance money. On the same token, If I have a big weekend coming up where I know i’m going out (birthday celebration etc) I can stay in the week before and save my allowance money.

This gives me free will to take that money and know that its mine to spend and I can spend it freely but once its gone its gone.

My question to people who have done this; How has an allowance worked for you? What amount would you recommend for this type of allowance (amount or percentage) I was considering $100 a week. Everyones thought and input would be much appreciated!
